L’Albiousse is a boutique luxury hotel in the centre of the medieval market town of Uzès. This exclusive address, set in a historic town house originally built in the 16th century, is named after its most illustrious former owners, the Albiousse family. Its five rooms and suites blend 18th century elegance and 21st century comfort creating a discreetly refined atmosphere. L’Albiousse preserves a very French way of life, delicately combining informal elegance, contemporary chic and historic charm. Opening out onto the courtyard, the living room with its vaulted ceiling and stone fireplace makes for a cosy retreat for reading or a game of cards. During your stay at L’Albiousse, you can explore Unesco world heritage sites, take off in a hot air balloon, go kayaking, ramble through the narrow cobbled streets and the local producers market or simply relax on a café terrace and watch the world go by. If this is too much, retreat to your luxuriously appointed bedroom or terrace suite with its own private balcony terrace.

Absolutely charming B&B idealy situated in the heart of town within easy walking distance of some great restaurants. Beautiful and rather grand old stone home, feels like staying in a castle. Gwylim & Alexis were excellent hosts, extremely helpful with very good recommendations for eating, drinking and sightseeing. Our terrace room was large, well appointed and very comfortable, especially the bedding. The terrace with daybed makes it difficult to gather up the courage to get out and about. Highly recommendable as is a stop in beautiful Uzes.

L’Albiousse is perfection. We’ve never stayed anywhere quite like it. Owners/hosts Alexis and Gwilym have lovingly restored a 16th century limestone townhouse and decorated it with treasures from their travels around the world. Everywhere you look is a treat for the eyes. Our room was spotless, done in colors Vermeer would have understood. It was a nice size, with a sitting area and a contemporary yet ancient looking limestone shower. The bed was super comfy and the pillows and sheets dreamy. I slept really well here. Towels were thick and soft; refreshing bath products from Clarins. The mini-bar had complimentary flat AND sparkling water, plus milk for in-room coffee or tea. Handy device chargers in the room, even a walk-in closet with drawers and a safe.Alexis and Gwilym have conjured an atmosphere where life really is beautiful. The sitting room and dining room, heck, even the staircase, reflect the chic understated luxury that pervades. I wanted to stay curled up on the couch in the sitting room forever.Whenever we went out or came in Gwilym or Alexis would magically appear. They were indefatigable, always with suggestions for where to visit and where to eat. They genuinely wanted our stay to be as good as it could possibly be. And I fell in love with their friendly Golden Retriever, Leeloo.Breakfast was delicious. Fromage Blanc with stewed fruit, extremely fresh bread with homemade jams, fruit salad and something sweet. I loved the orange pound cake that was made without sugar. And of course, the café crème was so good we had to have two.It was sad to say goodbye. Alexis and Leeloo waited by the door as Gwilym helped take our suitcases to the parking lot at the nearby cathedral. I felt that we were leaving friends -- or favorite uncles. In fact, after we left I was a little depressed all day.Uzes is a striking town where every building is ancient and made of limestone. It is a great base for day trips in any direction. We will certainly be back and will not stay anywhere else.
