How to go to Thimphu

The most common way to reach Thimphu is by flying to Paro International Airport, which is located about an hour's drive from Thimphu. From there, you can either take a taxi or hire a private car to travel to Thimphu. Here are the steps to get to Thimphu from Paro International Airport:

Fly to Paro International Airport: You can fly to Paro International Airport from a number of cities, including Bangkok, Delhi, Kathmandu, and Singapore. Drukair and Bhutan Airlines are the only airlines that operate in and out of Paro International Airport.

Hire a Taxi: After arriving at the airport, you can hire a taxi to travel to Thimphu. Taxis are readily available outside the airport terminal, and the fare is usually around Nu. 1,500 to Nu. 2,000 (approximately USD$20-USD$27) one way.

Hire a Private Car: You can also hire a private car with a driver to travel to Thimphu. Many tour operators offer this service, and it is a convenient and comfortable way to travel. The cost varies depending on the type of car and the duration of the trip, but typically ranges from Nu. 2,500 to Nu. 3,500 (approximately USD$33-USD$47) one way.

It's worth noting that traveling to Thimphu by road from India is also an option, but it can be a long and challenging journey due to the mountainous terrain and winding roads. It is recommended to hire a local driver with experience navigating the roads.
