Elegant, stylish and fashionable, the Grand Hotel Tremezzo stands majestically on the western shore, offering sophisticated interiors combining strong colours and classical details.
Sun yourself by the floating pool, sip cocktails on the terrace or zip along the lake in one of the hotel’s chic water limousines.
The hotel stands magnificently on the lakefront, offering a gorgeous panorama of Lake Como. Its grand façade looks out towards beautiful Bellagio, which lies across the water on the eastern shore. From the hotel it’s a short walk to the beautiful 17th-century Villa Carlotta, home to spectacular 20-acre gardens flush with exotic plants and flowers, while regular boat services to destinations around the lake leave from Cadenabbia, less than half a mile north.
The only downside of the location is that the busy lakefront road divides the main building from the floating pool, but the stylish facilities and gorgeous gardens at the back make up for it.
Grand Hotel Tremezzo is located in a grand Art Nouveau palazzo, with bold colour schemes lending the interiors a young and fashionable vibe. From the entrance on the lakefront road, a lift leads up to the first floor foyer where floor-to-ceiling glass windows offer panoramic views of the lake.
The décor is elegant yet colourful and lively, with vibrant orange, fuchsia and lime green velvet armchairs complementing smart wooden furnishings and natural finishes. Tucked away at the back of the hotel are lush gardens spreading out over five acres, a quiet haven providing plenty of privacy that feels a mile away from the tourist hubbub of the lake.
These are some of the best facilities around, particularly the outstanding spa. You’ll find a stylish floating pool on the lake, while nestled away in the gardens at the back is a more secluded swimming pool (a third is found in the T Spa), a floodlit clay tennis court and a panoramic path winding up the hill; head to the top for lovely lake views. Inside, there’s a billiards room and reading room.
Guests can zip around the lake in one of the hotel’s gorgeous mahogany water limousines, while seaplane trips above the lake can be organised. Concierge services meet an array of guests’ demands (top floor suites have private butler services), while culinary tours and cooking classes can be organised.
Service is friendly, welcoming and professional. It’s refreshing to see a young and dynamic team of staff (not so common in grand hotels in Italy).
