Pico do Refúgio - Ribeira Grande

An early 17th century farm which, apart from being a military garrison, was also the home of artists, an orange farm and a tea factory. The owner restored the 20Ha farm, preserving the exterior appearance of the former tea factory and the main house. Thanks to a deeply-rooted connection to nature and to art, through a family of painters, writers and sculptors, and their artist-in-residence program, the concept is quite unique. On arising, breakfast is served in the lounge. Afterwards, enjoy a wander through the countryside or a dip in the pool, or try some of many activities such as whale-watching, horse riding or scuba-diving. The farm is five minutes from Santa Barbara beach, a magnificent surfing venue.
