The Puripunn Baby Grand is unique and interesting. This is not a typical chain hotel with standard offerings. Everything from the locks on the rooms (old-style keyed) to the small, nice restaurant speaks of quaint or individualized services. There is a pool and a pretty nice fitness room, with some weights. The staff is helpful and speaks good English, although they were kind enough to also help me with my Thai. The building is tucked away, almost hidden. That makes it quiet. But you may miss the alley and entrance if you are driving and not watching closely. The beds are neither hard nor soft, but a happy medium. Rooms are cute. I have a nice porch. Shower is well designed and I don't get a lot of water outside the tub when I use it.My wife took ill for a few days while here (not the hotel's fault), and the staff was helpful and understanding. My daughter and her friend (who had their own room) brought two local friends back to swim one evening, with the blessings of the staff, and everyone had a nice time. It's maybe a twenty minute walk to the old city from the hotel, which is to the east and just across the river. Far enough--but not too far.I would stay here again. If I could change just one thing it would be to abandon the service charges included with most extras, and allow me simply to tip. I understand that service charges are common esp. at higher-end locations. But the problem with service charges is that I actually don't know how they are divided up. I prefer to apply the tip myself. I do recognize that I prefer to decide for myself because it's what I am accustomed to in my home country, though. It's also worth mentioning that Thais themselves usually don't tip. Not part of their culture. And this is, in any event, a minor issue, and it applies to many sites. As noted, this is a fabulous little place, and I would stay here again. I strongly recommend it.

Beautiful little traditional hotel. Out of the way so it's quiet, but close enough to walk or short tuk tuk drive to everything. Outstanding service, staff and facilities. Restaurant food was excellent. Friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely stay here again.
